Functions:

Clears heat, cools blood and eases bowel movements.

Indications:

Anus fistula, constipation, hard-dry stool, irritability and internal and/or external hemorrhoids syndromes

Sheng di huang nourishes yin and generates fluids; da huang drains heat downwards and cools blood. Both herbs are good for constipation caused by yin-depletion heat. Jin yin hua clears heat; dang gui reduces swelling by activating and harmonizing blood; huai hua can clear intestine heat, and alleviate hemorrhoids inflammation pain by cooling blood; cang zhu fortifies the spleen-stomach; huang qin clears qi-level heat within the liver-gallbladder; chi shao dissipates the heat in the blood, activating blood and breaking up blood stagnation to clean pus bleeding. Fang feng & qin jiao expel wind dampness; zhi shi brings down heart fire and strengthens intestinal energy while di long clears heat and enters the stomach-intestine and kidney channels.

This formula can free the bowel, purge fire and treat painful constipations with hemorrhoid or fistula symptoms.
